Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) is a Joint Venture Company formed to revive three non-functional fertilizer plants located at Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Barauni (Bihar) and Sindri (Jharkhand). The company was incorporated on 15th March 2016 under the Companies Act, 2013.
HURL's promoters are Coal India Limited (CIL), NTPC Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited (FCIL) and Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited (HFCL). The primary objective is to ensure food security in the country by increasing domestic production of urea.
The plants use state-of-the-art technology (KBR Purifier Technology at Gorakhpur and Barauni; Haldor Topsoe technology at Sindri) to produce energy-efficient, eco-friendly Neem Coated Urea with 46% Nitrogen content.
